Cross border trucking signed into law today

Okay Obama commerce fans.............

Transportation Secretary LaHood flies to Mexico City and just today and signs a cross border agreement which allows MX carriers into the US with MX freight and leave from the US back with to MX with US goods and vice versa.

There are many errors associated with this bill one of which US taxpayer funds are going to MX for the subsidy of prepping MX carriers to come into the US.  To be fair US truckers can receive the same benefits but with two ENTIRELY DIFFERENT transportation laws.  US carriers have no desire to transport in MX for fear being caught up in cross border wars, theft of high value freight and or equipment, eXXXtremely poor infrastructure and that is an understatement, poor facitlies for safe haven rest areas etc therefore lil if any money will be used by Independent Owner Operators.  ATA likes this bill and I wonder why? Schneider, JB Hunt any of you who pay your dues to the ATA care to answer this question?

In addition to other reasons has anyone in the FHWA / ATA considered the language barrier?  Ummm I don’t think so...

REALITY CHECK!!

Going into MX a driver loads up a load of....rebar crosses the border with moderate difficulty and long lines waiting for pre- clearances, clearances, (a day) language barriers, only to be able allowed entry.  While on his way he encounters a road block which consists of Federalies which I have NEVER NEVER came across a group of them who understood any English request for documents passports, police violations, whatever the case may be and another delay is encountered 'bout this time the driver is frustrated a lil hot, hungry, confused and is about to pretty much get into trouble at that time.  Now if this man goes to jail whose fault is this?  Know we are not talking about a "tourista" trip style law; we are talking cross border law, commercial vehicle laws.   What is the driver going to do if he finds himself in jail because an individual with no vehicle insurance gets into an accident or is injured himself and the POV driver is fatally or seriously wounded?  Waht about his equipment?  The driver goes to......jail

Representation in the US and representation in MX are two entirely different critters.

There are many reasons this bill should not have been passed.  Other concerns are, Emissions Pollutants, Highway Safety, and Drug testing and drug transport. Secured and unsecured Borders and Entry ports, equipment failures and rates increases, laws pertaining to MX Carriers and drivers as DOT is to US Carriers.  The list goes on and on.  For those interested I have included links to various organizations.  In my opinion this is another no win situation brought on by failed current White House policies and agendas for family breadwinners Small Business Owners in the US, the American Trucker, the Owner Operator who struggles to keep pace with ever changing laws fuel costs and our own government slapping you, me and him in the face.

I have personally witnessed such things and know my way around MX very well and would personally be quite uncomfortable in MX transporting commercial goods. I also am agaisnt this bill because it compromises the security and safety of the US and its citizens.

TIP:  US Truckers when in MX and if asked if you speak "espanol" they are wanting to know if they can converse with you in their native tongue Spanish consist more of than just OLA, Gracias and Cerveza if you do not speak the language fluently do not say yes.

TIP:  NEVER NEVER NEVER TRY TO CARRY YOUR FIREARM IFOR PROTECTION! EVEN ONE BULLET WILL PUT YOU AWAY FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

Warrior Project

Began when several individuals took small, inspired actions to help others in need.
One night while watching the evening news, a group of veterans and brothers were moved by the difficult stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq. They realized then and there that something needed to be done for these brave individuals beyond the brass bands and ticker tape parades.  The resulting objective was to provide tangible support for the wounded and help them on the road to healing, both physically and mentally. What had been initially viewed as a small contribution (compared with what the warriors had sacrificed while serving our country) has become WWP's signature program:"WWP backpacks delivered bedside to wounded warriors."

ASPCA
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. Our organization was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and proud to boast more than 1 million supporters across the country.

Pan African Education
Our vision is to witness young Africans, who have been provided access to higher education, using their knowledge to claim ownership of their countries dilemmas and working to create change throughout their societies. We believe that only through holistic education can future generations improve human development and assist positive transformation in Africa. It is our hope that through PAE’s education assistance program, young people in Africa will begin to understand the true meaning of leadership, which is to serve humanity.

White Earth Oshki Manidoo (New Spirit) Center
The Oshki Manidoo “New Spirit” Center will offer rehabilitative services using culturally appropriate diagnostic, assessment, rehabilitation, intervention, and treatment services. By implementing a holistic approach to substance abuse and mental health programming utilizing cultural and spiritual best practices found in our tribal communities, the White Earth Nation dreams of the Oshki Manidoo “New Spirit” Center as a place for native youth to begin to embrace healthy behaviors and attitudes that will transform them, their families, and our communities

As you can see we tried to incorporate varied causes encompassing locally to globally and feel that the benefits provided to these organizations will have a positive impact on those in the community.  As we further develop, enhance and implement this program we will advise on the process on how you will be able to choose the organization of your choice, we could not do this without your help.  Thank you for participating with us in making a better world for all.

Sincerely,

Steve
